*If you don't want to see the makeup section but you want to see the rest just keep scrolling until you see HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE! Thanks for still reading!*
Hey guys! Of course by the title, this isn't a "What I got for Christmas" post but, disclaimer I did get this for Christmas.
So, when I first heard that L.A. Colors had came out with their own chunky lip pencils I was pretty excited!
I saw this set at Rite-aid a few days before Christmas and I was with my mom. I was going to get it myself but I was saving my money for what my mom wanted for Christmas/ New Years (She wanted me to wait until her gift was on sale. She's so cute!).
So on Christmas day, BOOM! This was waiting for my in a holiday bag! (Thanks Mom!)
I'm going to show you hand swatches and lip swatches and tell you some information about this product if you are thinking about buying this. This is "Limited Edition" so I don't know if it will still be in some stores after the holidays.
Alright, LEGO!
If you are not familiar with L.A. Colors cosmetics then let me break it down for you.
L.A. Colors is obviously a makeup brand that is sold PRIMARILY in Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and Dollar General. If you don't know what any of those stores are then oh well sweetie I don't know what to tell you. You can also buy some of their products online at varies websites.
L.A. Colors is known for their low prices and pretty good quality makeup. Of course in every makeup brand there are hits and misses. This brand is good for people (I say people because some men wear makeup too. There is no judging here) who are starting off with makeup for the first time and they don't know what to get or for people who are on a tight budget. Their prices range from $1-$5 so it's very affordable. I used L.A Colors when I first started using makeup because
1) I needed it for shows
2) I didn't like to spend a lot of money on makeup
L.A. Colors is now getting more hype about their brand so they are now getting on the makeup trends.
Now let's talk about this set.
This cost $4.99 at Rite-aid but it was on sale for 25% off so that made it $3.74! If you bought any of their products at Dollar Tree you know it would be $1 for each lip pencil which is still awesome but 6 lip pencils for $3.74! I wanted to buy all of them! Even at $4.99 is still an awesome price.
I took them out of the box to start putting them all over my face of course, being the makeup junkie that I am, I noticed that there weren't and shade names on them. Weird. So I went online to see if I could find the shade names or if they sell the same shades but separately so I can at least go and see what the shade name is. Come to find out they do sell stand alone retractable lip pencils but not in the same shades as in the set ALSO, there is another set with more berry toned colors. Now I need to hunt that other set and all the other lip pencils down! The reason I said this is because I'm going to number each shade and try my best to describe because the pictures look odd.
Once again, LEGO!
(This is in order)
#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6
Shade #1
This is a nice baby pink color for anyone who is lighter than me. It looks very light against my skin color so I will probably not wear this color at all. This lip pencil is pigmented but it's very drying. If you don't mind the drying effect then this is a great matte pencil but I would put on some lip balm first and then the color. I noticed that the lighter shade are very drying.(All hand swatches are pretty true to color)
Shade #2
This is a darker baby pink that is a little bit more wearable for my skin color but still on the bit light side but, nothing but some lip liner can fix that. Same with Shade #1 it is very drying so you might want to put some lip balm on before hand.
Shade #3
This is a true red which is awesome because I really love red! The more colorful shades are moisturizing which this shade is. No need for lip balm because it can make this shade sheer out. Trust me, I know. Since it has some moisture it will have a slight sheen to it which is pretty nice but, if you are a matte lover like me then you would have to make this matte with some loose translucent powder.
Shade #4
This shade is a little more purple but very wearable for me. Just like Shade #3 it is moisturizing and very comfortable for me to wear. It has a pink undertone which I like because I LOVE pink! My favorite color! Once again, no need for lip balm unless you want a sheer color.
Shade #5
This looks pretty light in the picture but this shade is a pretty nice nude on me. I just need to use a lip liner that is my lip color to make it work a little more. This is the last color that is pretty drying so lip balm it up girl!
Shade #6
This last shade is my favorite! It looks the same as Shade #3 on the lips in the picture but it has more of a berry tone to it. This is also moisturizing and very comfortable.
I know this is long but there are a few things left that I want to say.
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!
2014 is coming to an end and I am happy. Not because this year was bad in fact, it was amazing! It had it's ups and downs but overall I loved 2014! I hope that everyone had a good year and if not, just think about the time you smiled the hardest this year. Think about the time you laughed the loudest this year. Who was around you? Where were you? Were you happy?
Just think about those times and it will make you feel better about 2014. I know that some things aren't as easy to shake off. My Grandmother passed away 2 days before my 18th birthday this year and I never got to see her or tell her bye. But I'm not going to let something like that that was going to happen mess up 2014. There was so much drama that happened this year too that it was crazy! But I didn't let it stay with me this year. I think about all the good times. The times when I laughed so hard that I got a headache. I got lifetime friendships that I know will stay. I reconnected with old friends from elementary! That has never happened to me before and I thought it was never going to happen!
For 2015 I really don't have resolutions, more on the end of goals.
This year in 2015 I am:
Going to take care of myself mentally, physically, emotionally, internally, externally
Stay Positive as much as possible
Forgive myself anything that might happen
Keep in mind that you never really know where you going to be a year from now. You can make plans all you want but something might change and you need to go with the flow and stress so much about it.
Almost done! Just one more thing. I now have a schedule that I am going to stick to for Youtube and this blog! On Monday I will post a video on my beauty channel. On Wednesday I will post right here on my blog and on Friday I will post a video on my main channel! I'm really excited for this! Also I do have on more goal.
